Braising Steak in mild Pepper and Tomato sauce
Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp Olive oil
- 900g braising steak, cut into 3 cm cubes
- 400g canned Kidney Beans, drained and rinsed
- 400g canned chopped Tomatoes
- 2 Garlic clove, crushed
- 2 Leeks, chopped
- 250g Mushrooms, quartered
- 1 Yellow Pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 Red Peeper, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp Flour
- 1 tsp mild Chilli powder
- 150ml Red Wine
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp Horseradish sauce
- Salt and Pepper
Method:
- Fry beef in 1 tbsp of oil in a heavy based saucepan until brown.
- Add the remaining oil and also garlic, peppers, leeks and mushrooms and fry on high heat for 4 minutes.
- Add the flour, chilli, tomatoes, wine, Worcestershire sauce and kidney beans and bring to boil.
- Season, reduce the heat and simmer gently for 1 1/2 hours or until the meat is tender.
- Serve with mashed potatoes and a dollop of horseradish sauce.
